888 Auctions’ First Auction of the Year Set to Feature Fine Art, Paintings & Asian Antiques January 17

Richmond Hill, ON – January 17, 2019 marks the first auction of 2019 where 888 Auctions will be ushering in the new year with 418 fresh-to-market items showcasing Fine Art, Paintings and Asian Antiques. After a successful year in 2018, collectors of fine art and antiques should expect even more quality pieces coming to auction as the auction house features items from an increasing number of clients and collections. The auction begins in the afternoon at 2 PM (EST) where bidders will be able to bid on items live and in real-time.
Lot 28, a French Oil on Canvas Signed Jacques Bouyssou, is the featured star lot of the auction. Featuring a French Impressionist city landscape scene and signed Jacques Bouyssou on the lower right corner, lot 28 is expected to exceed its high estimate of $5,000.
Another fine art piece gaining significant attention can also be found at Lot 36, a French Cubist Oil on Canvas Signed G. Braque. This oil on canvas piece features a cubist abstract composition and is attributed to Georges Braque (French, 1882-1963) on the lower left corner. Lot 36 features a high estimate of $6,000.
Two lithographs featuring big names are also highlighted in the first auction of the year. Lot 45, a Spanish Cubist Lithograph EA Signed Picasso and Lot 72, a French Lithograph Artist Proof E. A Marc Chagall. They command high estimates of $3,500 and $4,000, respectively.

American pop art continues to be a strong category for 888 Auctions and this auction highlights four pieces that are sure to be crowd-pleasing lots on auction day. Leading the way is Lot 38, an American Pop Art Mixed Media Signed Basquiat. This neo-expressionist portrait is expected to exceed its high estimate of $6,000. Another highlighted piece can also be found at Lot 153, an American Pop Art School Marker Signed Haring, which features a high estimate of $6,000.
