RAGO’S SEBASTIAN CLARKE JOINS MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE Of THE APPRAISERS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA.
Lambertville, NJ: Sebastian Clarke has been invited to join the newly created Membership Committee of the Appraisers Association of America. The Committee will address cultivation and retention programs for the Association's members.
The Appraisers Association of America, established in 1949, is the premier national association of personal property appraisers who focus on fine and decorative arts. With a membership of over 700 independent appraisers in 100 different areas of specialization, the Appraisers Association's roster of well-established professionals has the widest range of experience and expertise in their respective fields. Appraiser Association appraisers work with private and corporate art collections as well as partner with collectors, attorneys, accountants, museums, educational institutions, trusts, brokers and insurance carriers to reflect the highest industry standards. All members are required to be certified according to the highest professional standards, known in the field as USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice). Seasoned professionals, members serve public and private collectors alike to deliver independent, ethical, and objective valuations for insurance, estate tax, charitable donation, equitable distribution, and liquidation purposes.
Sebastian Clarke directs Estate Services at Rago and serves a Specialist in Furnishings and Decorative Arts. He was born in Wales and hails from a family of art experts, including both his parents. Arriving in the U.S. in 1995, he worked as an apprentice restorer and art handler for Simon Parkes Art Conservation. He began his career in auctions at C.G. Sloane, served as a Specialist in the European Furniture department at Sotheby’s, as Director of the English and Continental furniture department at Freeman’s and at Doyle New York as a Senior Vice-President and Director of the English and Continental Furniture and Decorations department. Mr. Clarke is an auctioneer and an expert appraiser in multiple categories including Furniture, Decorative Arts, Sculpture and Metalwork and Silver for the PBS series Antiques Roadshow.
