NEW YORK – 7 APRIL 2022 – Phillips is pleased to announce Crossroads: A Collection of Works by Lee Jaffe, a private selling exhibition at 432 Park Avenue in New York. Open to the public from 14-24 April, the exhibition will include works by the extraordinary cross-disciplinary visual artist, musician, and poet, whose work over the past five decades led to artistic collaborations with the likes of Bob Marley, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Helio Oiticica, Vito Acconci, Gordon Matta-Clark, Carol Goodden, Harry Shunk, and Miguel Rio Branco. The exhibition at Phillips will be hosted in tandem with the launch of Jaffe’s recent book, published by Rizzoli, which features never-before-seen images of Basquiat as he traveled with Jaffe around Kyoto, St. Moritz, and New York.
Lee Jaffe said, “Over the course of my life, I have had the great fortune of working with the most visionary creators of the 20th century. The time I spent with each of them were some of the most inspiring and vibrant periods for both my work and my life. I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to now share with the world this glimpse into my wonderful journey.”
Scott Nussbaum, Senior International Specialist, 20th Century & Contemporary Art, added, “It’s an honor to work with Lee in presenting these remarkable works to our audience in New York. These photos, paintings and ephemera provide a fascinating glimpse into the creative processes of some of the 20th Century’s most inspiring artists as well as Jaffe’s pivotal role as friend, collaborator and documentarian.
