"She Dreams of San Francisco
Original watercolor painting 25" x 40" by Robin...

It took me many years to find a better sense of security. Not just years, but pain. Pain is a good thing. It tells you that something isn’t right. I did all sorts of things to avoid the pain, but until I stepped forward and claimed myself, I didn’t get my release. On a spiritual level it’s about “self-realization”. I love that term because it signifies that what transformation is about is the realization! The realization of who you really are. It’s not about becoming something “else”. It’s about peeling off a skin that doesn’t fit you anymore. What’s underneath has always been there. One word I worked with was “honesty”. I had to be completely honest in order to discover what my blocks were and why they were there. In order to be honest I had to be open to the fact that I wasn’t going to like everything that I found about my actions, my words and how I’d been thinking. What helped me was realizing that I was not my action, my words or my thoughts. I was something far deeper than those things. What came out of this growth for me was my “She” series. I call them, “paintings of women, for women and by a woman”. I've completed 7 in this series so far. All but one have been sold. They are images of women that make me feel good. These women are my heroins, they reflect my ideals about womanhood. My daughter Katie is my model. She too is finding herself. Self-discovery is an exciting and mystical journey. I get a new peek of myself and others every day and I love paying attention to that! Every day the veil gets thinner. Every day my world is clearer to me. Its a process, not a destination and its fun.
