Derek Mohr Photographs
Wessel + O’Connor Fine Art gallery will inaugurate its new Lahaska, PA location with an exhibition of the work of Derek Mohr opening on Saturday, December 2 from 6 – 8 PM.
Derek Mohr is an American landscape and portrait photographer from Bucks County PA whose photographs are developed and printed by hand. His pictures are made using nineteenth-century chemical recipes and photographed with period wooden view cameras and brass lenses.
He uses a wet plate collodion process to shoot tintype, ferrotype and ambrotype portraits and landscapes. The collodion process requires that the plate be coated, sensitized, exposed and developed within a span of fifteen minutes. This requires the use of a portable darkroom in the field.
During the opening and on select days, the artist will install a make-shift Studio in the gallery for commissioned portrait sessions, which can also be arranged in advance or by appointment.
Formerly located in Lambertville, NJ since 2010, this will be Wessel + O’Connor’s 7th incarnation in 32 years. The new address is 5785 York Road (a.k.a.
