A Brighter Future: Creativity and Learning in a Syrian Refugee Camp in Iraqi Kurdistan
https://arbatbrighterfuture.weebly.com
This exhibition presents the mural project of the Arbat refugee camp in Iraq, led by Palo Alto, Calif.-based artist, Florence Robichon. In 2014, Florence moved to Kurdistan, Iraq. Since then, she volunteered her time to embark the younger generation of the Arbat camp on a journey of self-discovery and healing through art. Today, more than 50 colorful, happy murals liven up the dull cinder block facades of the camp’s streets. Florence’s story is a strong testimony that, even in a desperate situation, art has a powerful impact on people’s lives.
