CinéSalon French Politics on Film: Struggle for Life

When bumbling Marc Chataîgne snags an internship with the French Ministry of Normativity, his hopes are high. Then he gets sent to French Guiana to oversee an indoor ski slope…and gets lost in the jungle. Luckily, his guide is a fellow intern as charming as she is deft with a machete, and what started out as an uproarious sendup of French bureaucracy turns into a delightfully kooky adventure-romance. Starring “it” actors Vincent Macaigne and Vimala Pons, this is that rare comedy to seamlessly blend caustic wit, goofy sight gags, and breathless romanticism.
“A powerful libertarian eroticism and political sensuality that today only Guiraudie and a few others can claim as well.”—Le Cahiers du Cinéma
