Silvia Lizama’s “Sights of Construction” - Alumni Artist Series, “Through the Lens” – Exhibit 2
https://www.facebook.com/events/148365818694874/
A collection of photographic images depicting endless tracts of dirt stretching toward horizons set amidst the exquisite drama of tropical skies. Lizama has turned her camera lens to a scene so common the brain has learned to erase it -- the omnipresent barren acres of earth awaiting construction of highways, shopping malls, office parks, and subdivisions. Earlier construction site images were shot in black and white, using a medium format film camera, and then the surfaces of the printed images are hand colored with photographic oils. Images in the latter part of the series are digital and Lizama’s hand coloring sensibilities are achieved using digital manipulation software. Curated by Tracie Heller.
