McNay Art Museum / January 22 - June 1, 2014 / San Antonio, Texas

"Constructing the Stage" turns the spotlight on the increasingly important use of maquettes (stage models) in production design as seen in the work of four designers from the theatre collection. Timothy O’Brien, Ralph Koltai, Adrianne Lobel, and Tony Straiges designed landmark productions in the 1970s and 80s, representing contrasting British and American approaches to theatre design, and to the role of the theatre designer. This exhibition is organized by the McNay Art Museum.
