Jeonghan Yun and Choonhyang Yun's "Trees make art" exhibition
http://www.asartfoundation.org/
Jeonghan Yun and Choonhyang Yun’s Trees Make Art is a delicate and sophisticated fusion of Asian and Western papermaking techniques refined to create Zen (spiritual) “paintings” of paper alone. These works call the viewer into an intimate connection with the timeless essence of the natural world. Rather than using traditionally flat paper, each piece is constructed of hand rendered paper, reflecting the introspection that meditative painting encourages. Each work incorporates a variety of colors and textures. Traditional Asian papermaking techniques are utilized, involving the peeling, grinding, steaming and dying of the Dak tree. No other type of paper contains the exuberant colors or unique texture found in this paper. The work of Jeonghan and Choonhyang Yun focuses on the nature of the material itself. “Our handmade papers are non-toxic and provide endless inspirations in both two and three-dimensional form: our feelings, thoughts and movements are stored in the cellulose of the barks” Jeonghan and Choonhyang have exhibited in galleries worldwide including New York, NY. Philadelphia, PA. Atlanta, GA. Kuala Lumpur. Paris, France. and South Korea. The exhibition will be on display starting Saturday July 20th at 11am. Artists will be available at noon, opening reception held 3-5pm.
