Jannette M. Barth, Ph.D. has extensive experience in
economic analysis of the art market, ranging from analysis
of particular segments of the art market for litigation and
expert witness support to the analysis and calculation of
blockage discount for galleries, artists’ estates, donation
appraisals and insurance claims. Her most recent article
on blockage was published in Appraising Art: The Definitive
Guide to Appraising the Fine and Decorative Arts, 2013.
Marci Silverman is the founder and owner of Silverman
Fine Art, LLC, an appraisal firm specializing in Modern,
Post-War and Contemporary art, with a particular focus
on artists’ estates and archives. Marci has been a member
of the Appraisers Association since 2000. Before starting her
firm in 1996, she was the director of sales for The James
Goodman Gallery and the Nohra Haime Gallery, both in NYC.
She earned a Masters Degree in art history at NYU Institute
of Fine Arts and holds a BA in history from Harvard University.
