On view at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Museum of Art from August 4 to December 2, 2012, is the exhibition "Whislter and Rebellion in the Art World." James Abbott McNeill Whistler (1834–1903) was one of the most deliberately contentious, witty, and fiercely independent artists of his generation.
