Lot 468 to sell at Garth's March 15 auction.  HOTEL SIGN.  Massachusetts, mid-19th century, wood.  Double-sided sign with "Hotel Metropole" and a pointing hand.  Wear.  36"h.  55.5"w., not including hanging brackets.  This sign originally hung near the Hotel Metropole in Brookfield, Massachusetts.  Included with the lot art two copies of photographs: one of the Metropole, and the other a town view with a horse-drawn pumper and this sign hanging on the lightpost pointing toward the Metropole.
