Four Chinese export pieces made for Society of the Cincinnati members, including a plate ordered for George Washington, with an estimated value of $30,000 to $50,000, are sure to be hotly contested at Sotheby's Jan. 23 sale of Pennsylvanian Elinor Gordon's collection. Americana Week in New York will also draw bidders for pieces such as the magnificent 1829 Maxwell presentation vase created by Philadelphia silversmiths Fletcher & Gardiner, est. $250,000 to $350,000, at Sotheby's.
