Americana Week begins on a high note
- January 21, 2010 12:14
In New York, Americana week has kicked off with a Christie’s sale of American silver including 11 pieces being sold by a Beverly, Massachusetts, church in order to fix its roof: among them was a monumental ewer, by the silversmith and patriot Paul Revere, which realized $206,500. The Winter Antiques Show is open through January 31 at the Park Avenue Armory. Robert Young is showing a charming German Noah’s ark with 53 animals, dating from about 1875. It is priced at $65,000.
