Possible Lost Caravaggio Discovered in France

Experts have yet to weigh in on the discovery of a possible second version of Caravaggio's Judith and Holofernes. The work is thought to be a lost version of the early 17th-century masterpiece at the National Gallery of Ancient Art in Rome and was discovered in a private collection in France. It could be worth upwards of $100 million.
An export ban has been placed on the painting while authenticity is determined.
For Caravaggio cravers, fifty-seven paintings by the master of chiaroscuro are (sort of) on view in a high-tech, multi-sensory exhibition at Rome's neoclassical Palazzo delle Esposizioni (through July 3), where 3D images projected on walls allow visitors to explore the works in minute detail. The "Caravaggio Experience" is a unique traveling exhibition that incorporates music and aromas with an immersive video installation.
