Several museums run by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, which administers the capital’s state museums, have recruited refugees to guide Arabic-language tours of Berlin museums for other refugees.
Since December, some 3,000 refugees from war-torn Syria, Iraq and other places have taken a cultural tour of Germany's Museum for Islamic Art, Bode Museum, the Near East Museum, the Sculpture Collection, the Byzantium Art Museum, the German History Museum, and other sites, to learn about artifacts and history. Other cultural institutions across Germany have also been contributing to the project as a way to help assimilate refugees.
In 2015, Germany took in 1.1 million asylum seekers.
