Alec Baldwin Sues Manhattan Art Dealer Over Alleged 'Copy'

Actor Alec Baldwin sued Manhattan art dealer Mary Boone in New York Surpreme Court on Monday, alleging that she sold him a later version of a painting for $190,000 that was not the original he thought he was buying.
Baldwin says he wanted to buy Ross Bleckner’s 1996 painting 'Sea and Mirror' in 2010.
The actor claims Boone passed off another painting as the original and fraudulently stamped the back with the gallery inventory number of the 1996 work. He is suing for the difference in value of the two paintings and attorney fees, according to reports.
Boone’s attorney, Ted Poretz, said "Ms. Boone has no interest in misleading clients" and has denied the charges, saying Baldwin was told the piece was another version. Baldwin contends that the work seemed brighter and smelled fresher than he expected.
"Ms. Boone offered him a full refund and took every step to handle this in a professional manner," Poretz said. "Mr. Baldwin's decision to continue this personal attack is not surprising given his history of lashing out against anyone he believes is beneath him."
Also on Monday, Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, had their third child together and named him Leonardo Ángel Charles Baldwin.
