Travelers have ranked their favorite museums on TripAdvisor for 2016 and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art topped the list for museums in the U.S.

The Met had a record number of visitors—6.7 million—during the fiscal year that ended on June 30 (FY16). There were some big draws, including the Costume Institute exhibition Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, which attracted 752,995 visitors during its run from May 5 to September 5, putting it in seventh place among the museum's most visited exhibitions ever.
