Versailles to Expand Contemporary Art Program With 10 Artists

Château de Versailles introduced its contemporary art program a decade ago with a solo exhibition of one artist each year. Director Catherine Pégard has announced that Versailles will this year expand the program to feature ten contemporary artists at a time in exhibitions.
Massive installations on palace grounds of single artists, including Jeff Koons and Anish Kapoor, have met with some opposition, notes Le Figaro. Kapoor's work Dirty Corner was vandalized with anti-semitic graffiti in 2015.
Next fall, the expanded contemporary art program at Versailles will be curated by Alfred Pacquement, former director of Paris’s Musee d’Art Moderne, in collaboration with Palais de Tokyo’s Jean de Loisy.
