Clars Auction Gallery, the largest premier full-service auction houses in the Western U.S., has announced its expansion to the Pacific Northwest. Their new operation is centrally located just north of Portland (OR), in Vancouver, (WA). With a history of several record-setting years and sales for both the firm and their consignors, Clars brings to this market a world-class Fine Art and Antiques auction house that will serve the needs of both those looking to sell and those looking to buy and collect.
“We have looked at expanding to the Pacific Northwest for a while,” said Clars President, Redge Martin. We recognize this region as a sophisticated fine art and antiques community that is worthy of top-rate auction service. The current market has created an ideal time to be opening our satellite office. The decision was a result both of the improving economy once again making fine art and antiques a solid investment class and Clars’ earlier commitment to developing a huge online bidding platform has driven our global buying and selling market to new heights resulting in a number of record years and individual sales for our firm.”
Clars holds several auction records for both fine and decorative arts. Gaining national news attention in recent past was their sale of an undiscovered Old Master painting which fetched over $600,000, a 1948 Tucker that brought over $750,000 and a 20th century Chinese brush pot, attributed to Wang Bu, that just sold for $530,000. (Clars has consistently realized astonishing prices on their Asian category over the past few years). Clars routinely represents major estates including the Estate of Merv Griffin and has worked with several museums in deaccession including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Denver Art Museum and the Honolulu Museum of Art.
Heading the new Northwest operation is Jan G. Krane, nationally recognized fine art expert and dealer who brings over with him 20 years of experience on both the national and international level. Mr. Krane has worked extensively with major private collectors, corporate collections as well as museums. His in-depth knowledge spans all areas of luxury items and fine art.
The Pacific Northwest office representative, Jan Krane, will be fully supported by Clars’ specialists in each department including: Fine Art, Decorative Arts and Furnishings, Jewelry and Timepieces, and Asian Works of Art.
Initially, consignments from the Northwest will be sold at Clars monthly two-day fine art and antiques auction held at their gallery in Oakland.
For over 40 years, Clars Auction Gallery has been an industry leader, recognized as one of the nation’s foremost fine art, antiques and estates auctioneers with a global base of buyers. Redge Martin, President of Clars, is a constant force behind the firm’s ongoing record of high profile and distinctly successful sales as well as it’s dedicated and professional team of specialists. Clars success is a direct result of their commitment to both their consignors and their buyers and by maintaining the highest levels of integrity, customer service and global marketing. From its current 22,000 square foot location in Oakland (CA), the gallery hosts a monthly two-day auction and weekly appraisal clinics. All consignments and transactions are handled in complete confidence. Clars is a proud supporter of PBS.
