Lambertville, NJ - Thursday, August 25 through Saturday, August 27, Rago Arts and Auction Center will hold unreserved auctions of Jewelry, Early 20th Century Design and Modern Design.
“Our Unreserved Auctions are always full of fun and interesting art and design, and our August 2016 sale is no exception,” says Michael Ingham, Director of Rago’s Unreserved Department, “Many of the items up for sale appeal to the youngster in all of us and afford a rare opportunity to reuse, upcycle and otherwise breathe new life into timeless designs.”
Unreserved Jewelry: Thursday, August 25 at 12 p.m., 413 lots
Offering a unique selection of antique and modern jewelry, watches and luxury accessories, from delicate flowering French Art Nouveau gold to contemporary hand-crafted designs and kinetic silver jewelry by modern artists like Ed Wiener and Guy Vidal. Also included in the sale will be a selection of gentleman’s material, wrist and pocket watches, as well as Chanel handbags, printed silk Hermès scarves and contemporary diamond, gem-set and gold jewelry. All will be sold at the highest price offered that day, whatever that offer may be.
Unreserved Early 20th C., Fine Art, Estate Goods and Scandinavian: Friday, August 26 at 10 a.m., 654 lots
Early 20th century American pottery and ceramic art by George Ohr, Newcomb College, Teco, Fulper, Weller, Roseville and artist painted works by Rookwood. Early 20th century furniture by Gustav Stickley, Stickley Brothers, L. & J.G. Stickley and a large selection of arts and crafts style furnishings. Arts and crafts lighting by Pairpoint as well as leaded glass and prairie style lamps. Collection of English and European pottery and ceramic art including works by Moorcroft, amphorae and several lots of matchstick holders by Schafer & Vater. Electric and acoustic guitars and bass guitars by Gibson, Squire, Ibanez, Kingston, Floyd Rose, Yamaha and Silvertone. Guitar amplifiers by Fender, Crate and Kustom. The day’s auction ends with 100+ lots of Danish modern and Scandinavian furnishings and design by Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, Alvar Aalto, Bruno Mathsson, Wiener Werkstätte Ceramics, Poul Henningsen, Louis Poulsen, Bergboms, Gunnar Nyuland, and Wilhelm Kåge including rosewood furniture, two CADO wall units and rugs by Rya.
Unreserved Modern Design and Contemporary Art: Saturday, August 27 at 10 a.m., 705 lots
Modern furnishings by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Warren Platner, Eero Saarinen, Josef Hoffmann, Vladimir Kagan, Warren McArthur, Milo Baughman, Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson and a handsome Michael Graves dining set including table, chairs, console and matching wall mirror. Lighting by Robert Sonneman, Gaetano Sciolari, Martine Bedin for Memphis and many more including a Moooi Horse Floor Lamp and a pair of French “UFO” lamps. Fine art by Damien Hirst, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Victor Vasarely, Josef Albers and Boris Lovet-Lorski. Sculptures by C.
