Less controversial, more beautiful is the overall consensus on the output of this year's artists shortlisted for Britain's most prestigious contemporary art prize.

The Turner Prize, begun 26 years ago, was once a headline-grabbing event starring sensational artwork that sparked widespread interest. Last year, the prize was given to Richard Wright whose painstaking wall paintings suggest a trend to a more toned down, but still stunning aesthetic.
