WoofbertVR app gives a tour of the Courtauld Gallery in London.

Museums and galleries can now be walked through from any place in the world with a new virtual reality app --- the WoofbertVR app has just launched on Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus.

“What museums are excited about — among other things — is access,” said co-founder Robert Hamwee to TechCrunch. “Pretty soon a kid with the smart phone in India can visit the Louvre.”

Viewers can now get a voice-guided tour of the Wolfson Room in London's Courtauld Gallery, and new content is expected to be posted on the site every four-to-six weeks. The company told TechCrunch that it is "already in talks with some 85 museums and gallery spaces to bring their collections into virtual reality."

New features would also be rolled out to help "monetize" the site, including a possible marketplace for buying art. The team is even dreaming up a way for viewers to enter into paintings and view their world from inside the canvas. Hopefully, they'll start with Munch's The Scream, just for fun.
