Ann Korologos Gallery presents Sarah Lamb: Timeless Memories, a solo exhibition featuring dramatic still lifes by nationally acclaimed American realist painter Sarah Lamb. The exhibition is on view June 30th through July 7th at Ann Korologos Gallery in historic downtown Basalt, CO and virtually at korologosgallery.com. The exhibition is complemented by paintings, sculptures, photographs, and mixed media art by 40 contemporary Western artists.

“Lamb paints the heirlooms of memory, and timeless ones at that,” reflects gallery owner, Ann Korologos. “The still lifes of Sarah Lamb depict more than the skill of the artist, but dear moments for both the artist and the collector. The subject is more than a flower, but the first flowers from the artist’s own garden; not simply oranges and pears in tissue, but an homage to 19th century still life painter John McCloskey and Lamb’s own pursuit of interesting textures; more than an object, but a treasured keepsake from a collector’s life.”

Sarah Lamb always paints from life, arranging the items before her with an emphasis on complementary textures, a passion for the artist established early in her career. Lamb’s paintings are “seasonal,” as she describes. Painting for the Timeless Memories exhibition, the artist drew seasonal inspiration from farmers markets, beautiful produce and flowers that are in season. “I’m inspired by everything around me,” Lamb explains. “Especially if it is a new texture that I have not painted before.”

Lamb has been an artist since her hair was long enough to paint with. Her family, saw that she “was drawn to art – painting and drawing, mostly – and decided to enroll me in art classes. It just took off from there!”  Later on, a 2-week oil painting workshop in Santa Fe with Jacob Collins in the early 90s led to the introduction to Collins' mentor, Ted Seth Jacobs. The medium, in the hands of Lamb and through the guidance of her mentors, Collins and Jacobs, proved perfect to capture the color, depth, and texture of Lamb’s objects. “I’d been afraid of [oil paint],” reflects Lamb. “But once I started, it was life-changing.” Decades later, Lamb is a nationally recognized American realist painter, considered to be one of the best contemporary painters in the United States.

Lamb has had successful one-woman shows in major galleries in New York City, Atlanta, Houston, and San Francisco. She has been featured in magazines such as American ArtistsAmerican Art Collector, Southwest Art, and Western Art & Architecture as one of America's most talented young painters. Sarah Lamb lives in Houston, Texas and Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley with her husband, artist David Larned, and their daughter Sadie.
