About the Artist

Born in monochrome, urban, communist Romania, Mireille Pizzo uses photography to capture the lush colors and textures of the natural world. Based in Australia and frequently traveling to destinations such as South Africa and China, Pizzo’s photographs capture the sensation of someone seeing the world with fresh eyes. Her wide-angle landscapes vibrate with color as Pizzo captures nature’s riches from an entirely unique perspective. Her compositions reflect the fundamental values that define and unite us as humans: innocence, creativity, peace, love, and balance.

Mireille Pizzo, Karst Formations and Li River, Photograph on Metallic Paper, 16'' x 24''

In a large photograph titled Perfect Moment, Pizzo captures a fisherman casting his net against a riverside sunset. The surreal landscape is one of harmony in which humans and nature coexist peacefully, if only for a moment. In her photograph Karst Formations and Li River, Pizzo capture the dramatic, atmospheric, hazy landscape along China’s Li River. Inspired by the poetry of Guilin region, Pizzo photographs the magnificent rocky outcrops with a sense of zen balance.
