Solvang Antiques and Judith Hale Gallery invite you to join them for the opening of their annual Spring Art Show ‘New Beginnings for Spring.’ A champagne reception will be held on Saturday, March 17th from noon to 4:00 pm. Mingle with the artists and enjoy painting demonstrations. The freshness of Spring and sweet fragrant air create an atmosphere of expectation and new beginnings. The artists in the show capture these elements in their unique artworks presenting a collection of new creations in oil, pastel and sculpture.
Dirk Foslien will be enchanting attendees with a painting demonstration during the opening on March 17th. “Dirk is trained in the techniques of the Old Masters and known for his oil paintings especially of our local region,” says Judith Hale. She adds “he captures the brilliance of the flowering hillsides with their bounty of poppies and lupine. This year he has painted a precious little lamb to add to his collection of available paintings.”
Oil painter Grace Schlesier is known for her renditions of the sea. She has traveled widely, including living for a time aboard a sail boat. “Grace has always been infatuated with the motions of the waves,” notes Hale, adding “she has captured these moments and prepared small works for the show.”
New works by Howard Carr and Betty Carr will be featured in the exhibit. The Carrs are Arizona residents and long-time painters, well known in the Scottsdale School for their teaching and workshops in oil and watercolor. “Betty has been named member of the Impressionistic Painters of America, a very prestigious designation,” says Hale. “Their works are very alive with color and vibrancy.”
Sculptor Angie Whitson, a Gold Medal winner in the California Art Club for her figurative works, will be in attendance along with Marty Goldstein. Goldstein has a charming collection of humorous bronze dogs, perfect timing for the ‘Year of the Dog.’
Oil painter Anne Bridge of Wisconsin has added sweet charm to the spring collection with her paintings of children at the beach. What is more fun than “Buckets of Fun,” as she has titled one of the pieces for the show? Other new works celebrating spring will be exhibited by Sheryl Knight, Marilyn Simandle, Ted Goerschner and Jannene Behl.
“We hope that ‘New Beginnings for Spring’ will inspire you to join us for this opening. See you there!” says Hale.
‘New Beginnings for Spring’ art show runs through May 31st.
