NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Rody in Fall Equinox. The exhibition opens September 19 and runs through October 8, 2019 with an opening reception on Thursday, September 19 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

French artist Rody is known for her playful portraits of early Parisian life. Inspired by the white and sepia-toned postcards from her childhood, her paintings recall a simpler time when men and women roamed the city streets looking for love and adventure. Working mainly in oil on canvas, she deploys a limited, almost monochromatic, color palate of soft yellows, bright reds, and somber grays to bring this world to life. Bordering on Impressionism, the artist uses soft, light brushstrokes to capture the light and emotion of the scene instead of meticulously bringing every detail to life as it exists in the real world.

Steeped in romantic nostalgia, her paintings bring the viewer back to a time where people lived in the moment and moved at a slower pace. Like an old poster or postcard, every scene feels intelligently staged as if the artist were sending a message of love to someone in another country. Full of whimsy and wonder, the work invites the viewer to embrace the ways of the past without losing sight of the present.
