1stdibs, the leading global marketplace for the world’s most beautiful things, has launched a Gallery at the Terminal Stores building in New York City. The impressive, 45,000-square-foot space presents more than 50 exhibitors whose offerings span from antiques to contemporary pieces, presenting a dazzling display of the best seating, lighting, tables, rugs, decorative objects, art and more.
“The 1stdibs Gallery is New York’s premier design hub, where designers and consumers can shop, learn, touch, see and be inspired by a representative sampling of the site’s offerings,” said David Rosenblatt, CEO of 1stdibs. “The Gallery presents one-of-a-kind antique treasures, vintage finds and the best new and custom creations, all artfully presented by an international array of exhibitors.”
While 1stdibs is regarded as the design industry’s leading e-commerce platform, the company's brick-and-mortar retail channel supports its goal to serve its customers and their personal shopping preferences. “We’re multi-channel because our customers are multi-channel,” continued Rosenblatt.
“We want our customers to discover objects according to their desired experiences. Some customers are not interested in walking into a store, and some only want to see things in person before purchasing. We are also supporting our global dealer partners by providing them with a unique, multi-channel environment to showcase their items.”
1stdibs is also elevating traditional shopping with digital experiences in which customers can view items online before visiting the 1stdibs Gallery or use a smartphone in-store to scan items, see more information, save, share, and purchase.

Archers

● “Kind of Blue,” a stylish living room designed by Brooklyn interior design studio Chango & Co
In addition, a trio of pieces by Italian multimedia artist Mattia Biagi are presented. The display serves as an East Coast counterpart to Biagi’s current exhibition in Los Angeles, “Metropolitan Sets,” produced in collaboration with contemporary-design gallery Twentieth.
Beyond the one-of-a-kind objects, the Gallery offers meeting spaces where exhibitors and designers can confer with clients and a knowledgeable sales team. It will also host a series of events throughout the year, including panels, lectures and other educational opportunities for the design community.
The 1stdibs Gallery was designed by the architecture firm Davies Toews, which transformed the space in the historic building into a beautiful design emporium. 1stdibs’ arrival in West Chelsea adds to the vibrancy of one of the city’s prime art and design neighborhoods.
