The Erin Hanson Gallery is excited to host Erin Hanson: The Crystal Light Show on February 22nd from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Erin Hanson’s iconic Crystal Light series was born in 2013 with her pivotal painting “Crystal Light.” This impressionist oil painting captured the prismatic spectrum of refracted light in a painted pattern resembling a butterfly’s wing. This piece has become synonymous with Hanson’s Open Impressionistic style, and she has since created a whole series of popular works which capture mosaic prisms of light. These paintings are considered Hanson’s first movement in the evolution of her style.
Now, seven years after the first “Crystal Light” painting was created, The Erin Hanson Gallery is presenting a brand-new collection of works in the Crystal Light series. Each painting is characterized by a stained-glass-like capture of prismatic light shining through trees or clouds. These paintings were inspired by early dawn or sunset light, with long, dramatic shadows setting off brilliant flashes of light. Starting from a limited palette of only five pigments, Erin Hanson creates a wide range of un-muddied hues that capture the rainbow refraction of light. The final effect is an impressionistic celebration of light and color.
Join us at The Erin Hanson Gallery on Saturday, February 22nd between 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm for a limited engagement viewing and artist reception. This evening will be filled with live music, wine tasting, and extraordinary art!
