NEW YORK, November 1, 2021
Findlay Galleries is pleased to announce the November 17, 2021, opening of the eponymously titled exhibition Zvonimir Mihanović, the first exhibition of this scale since the Forbes Gallery exhibited the artist’s work in 2012.
The present exhibition contains twelve oil paintings and five prints representing the range of Mihanovic’s iconic compositions, including open water, near shoreline/disappearing rocks, and dock/village scenes. The work is meticulous and time-consuming that the artist only completes approximately 4-6 paintings a year.
Findlay Chairman and CEO James Borynack noted, “we are honored to have represented the work of Zvonimir Mihanović since 1979. Throughout this more than 40-year collaboration, Findlay Galleries has placed many works in important collections worldwide. It is an additional honor to know Zvonimir as a dedicated, loyal and personal friend during all these accomplished years.”
Zvonimir Mihanović’s signature style comes from his efforts to capture the tranquility of the coastal waters of his native Croatia, notably Kornati National Park. His particular brand of hyperrealism captures the elemental bliss of this extraordinary land and seascape – a region whose hypnotic beauty has been documented since the time of Homer.
Zvonimir Mihanovic will be on view at Findlay Galleries in New York from November 16 Thru December.

About Findlay Galleries
Celebrating 150 years in business, Findlay Galleries is an iconic family art business founded in 1870. Specializing in Impressionism, European Modernism, l'Ecole de Rouen, L'Ecole de Paris, and 20th Century American Art, the gallery represents over 100 artists and artist estates. Named Wally Findlay Galleries since 1965, the business was acquired in 1998 by James R. Borynack. A longtime Findlay executive, Borynack was committed to the relentless pursuit of veritable European period works and contemporary artists. In 2016 Borynack also acquired the David Findlay Jr. Gallery and merged the two. Since then, the gallery has operated under its original name from 1870, Findlay Galleries, and has continued to offer a strong collection of both period works and contemporary art, both European and American.
