Unparalleled collection of painting, sculpture, photography and design, drawn from National Gallery, V&A, AGO and over 2,500 worldwide galleries and museums, now available as personalised leanback tour
Artfinder (www.artfinder.com), the home for art on the web, today launched a new online Artplayer, enabling anyone to enjoy a leanback, uninterrupted stream of fine art images drawn from its unparalleled international online collection of painting, sculpture, photography and design.
The browser-based Artplayer can be used by art lovers to view:
Artists and Art Movements: view the complete works of major artists, from Michelangelo to Manet and beyond, or art from a particular movement, such as the Impressionists. Over 500,000 artworks, from more than 2,500 galleries, museums and collections, are now available to view.
Collections: Artfinder users who have created their own Collections - “playlists” of their favourite art which can be shared with friends - can view them, or those they have discovered by other Artfinder users, as an uninterrupted stream.
As users watch their personal art channel, they can use the Artplayer’s zoom feature to view details up close. Additionally, the Collect button enables users to save the art they like to their own personal online art collections, accessed via their Artfinder profile page. Images can also be shared with friends via Twitter, Facebook or email.
The Artplayer draws from Artfinder’s extensive collection of international art, which is built on partnerships with major galleries and museums worldwide - from the National Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum, to the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Ashmolean Museum of Art & Archaeology - as well as collections from the likes of the Brooklyn Museum, the Courtauld Institute of Art and the Hannah Barry Gallery.
While Artfinder offers an unparalleled catalogue of fine art paintings, from Old Masters to Impressionists and beyond, these latest partnerships also help to expand the site’s extensive sculpture, photography and design collections.
Spencer Hyman, Artfinder co-founder and CEO, said: “With the Artplayer, the history of art is at your fingertips, personalised to you. Just as Spotify offers a great leanback experience of a vast music catalogue, giving you single artists or shared playlists, so the Artplayer enables you to really dive into our unparalleled collection of painting, sculpture, photography and design.”
