Invaluable Announces Online Bidding on Historic Collection of Presidential Memorabilia from Raleigh DeGeer Amyx in Partnership with RR Auction

Invaluable, the world’s largest online live auction marketplace, today announced that it has partnered with RR Auction to make their upcoming auction of historical Presidential memorabilia available for online bidding through the Invaluable platform. The auction, which includes items from the historic collection of Raleigh DeGeer Amyx, former messenger to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, will take place during a two-day event September 17-18, 2014, at the Omni Parker House hotel in Boston. Bidders can view the full collection on Invaluable.com and bid online in real-time during the live auction.
Headlining the auction is Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Rolex watch, which is expected to realize $1,000,000 - $2,000,000. The iconic yellow gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual DateJust features Eisenhower’s engraved initials, and was presented to him by Rolex in recognition of his achievements in World War II.
Additional lots of note include a very rare lock of founding father John Adam’s hair which is expected to realize $8,000 - $10,000, Abraham Lincoln’s gray metal eyeglasses which are estimated at $10,000 - $15,000, and a walnut cane used by Franklin Delano Roosevelt which is expected to realize $40,000 - $60,000. Other noteworthy items from Franklin D. Roosevelt included in the sale are a personally-owned and worn Wool Cape which is estimated at $100,000 - $150,000 and his 1933 Inaugural Top Hat which is expected to realize $20,000 - $30,000.

Headlining the Remarkable Rarity session is Nelson Mandela's Torch of Freedom, which he received on February 11, 1990, upon his release from prison, which is expected to realize $400,000 - $600,000. Additional noteworthy lots include a very rare signed photograph of Albert Einstein, expected to realize $40,000 - $60,000, a manuscript autographed by Martin Luther dating back to 1543 which is estimated at $40,000 - $60,000, and a limited edition screenprint by Andy Warhol entitled 'Portraits of the Artists,' estimated at $30,000 - $40,000.
