(Portsmouth, NH) Northeast Auctions will feature over 700 lots in their upcoming two part estates auction May 28th and 29th.  Artfact Live! will provide live online bidding for the sale.  The first session will include hundreds of rare late 18th Century porcelain pieces ranging from Staffordshire, enameled teapots to figural, hand painted candlesticks.  The second session will offer a variety of estate items in the categories of porcelain, furniture, sculpture and paintings.  Some rarities include an early 20th Century Tiffany glass and bronze lamp and a Harriet Frishmuth bronze figure.  For additional information, or to bid live online from anywhere in the world on Artfact Live! please visit www.Artfact.com.

Highlighting the sale is a bronze figure by Harriet Whitney Frishmuth (American 1880-1980) entitled “The Joy of the Waters”.  Featuring verdigris patina and piped for water, the work is signed and dated on the base "HARRIET W. FRISHMUTH SC./ C. 1920/ ROMAN BRONZE WORKS, INC. N.Y." l.r. (43 inches).  A master of lyrical sculpture, Frishmuth studied under renowned sculptor Auguste Rodin and is celebrated for her graceful and lively figures.  “The Joy of Waters” work was created after Frishmuth’s favorite model “Desha” and is expected to sell between $40,000 - $60,000.

Also offered is a pen and ink piece by the Italian painter Francesco Guardi (Venetian 1712-1793).  The framed drawing features an architectural capriccio with a view of the harbor and figure before an arch and signed “Fran.co Guardi fecit”.  Known for his skill in the aesthetics of composition, Guardi worked primarily depicting state related events and occasions.  The drawing 19 ¼ x 13 inches and is estimated to bring $15,000-$20,000.

Additional featured items include an array of rare porcelain pieces such as a Worcester porcelain Chamfered platter said to have been made for the Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh and the Earl of Connaught (1743-1805) (est. $18,000-28,00), and a rare saltglaze enameled punch pot and cover featuring an intricately painted rural scene (c. 1760) (est. $8,000-$12,000).
