Allan Katz Americana, a leading gallery in the field of period American Folk Art, announces the publication of their new 48 page color catalog. Allan and Penny Katz specialize in period American Folk Art from the nineteenth through the first half of the twentieth century.

This new catalog contains masterworks (currently available for purchase) in the areas of carved Trade Figures, Decorated Stoneware, Weathervanes, and "unique" one of a kind pieces that have become the mission for Allan Katz and his wife, Penny, and for which they are nationally recognized.

Among the catalog's highlights is a rare and important Military Supply Store Trade Sign from 1870 in the form of a U.S. Army General.

This carved and polychrome painted Trade Sign was first documented in the 1930s as part of  "The Index of American Design," which states "Military and naval men were among the figures used on shop fronts, this one C. 1870."  At that time this Trade Figure resided in Baltimore.

Also, of note is a vibrantly paint decorated Arrow Back Windsor Settee from Philadelphia, circa 1825, as well as a Tobacco Store Trade Figure depicting an African American Sailor, circa 1860.

A flip book version of this catalog can be viewed on line at  www.allankatzamericana.com.

You may also request a free catalog which will be mailed to you.
