Adventure travel is a type of tourism, often to remote locations, to explore and engage in physical activity which includes extreme activities. Elephant seals travel through the entire northeast Pacific Ocean on foraging trips in search of food because of climate change.
The photographer artist Anna Paola Pizzocaro is creating series focused on the global worming, climate changes and co-habitation as a central subject. Her recent series Walking Distances in Wonder and Unanswered Prayers are represented by Olive & Orient at X Contemporary Art Fair.
In the heart of Midtown Miami Wynwood Art District, alongside powerhouse art fairs like Art Miami and Context, the new art fair named X Contemporary is announcing its debut during Art Basel Miami Beach 2015. Focused on art galleries with a strong program the show is presenting curated context that prominently features some of the most exciting hidden treasures, new galleries and artists today.
“In this new series a land made of ice”, Anna Paola explains, “several animals are trying to co-inhabit in this new eco-system, this time glacial, trying to survive in the various climate change on our planet. My artwork focuses on contemporary issues of global warming and adaptation. I like to create sophisticated composite images representing a surreal world in the most realistic way possible. I am pleased that Olive & Orient, based in Brooklyn, decided to curate my works in a solo show to celebrate at X Contemporary’s debut.”
Anna Paola Pizzocaro, who maintains her art studio in Brooklyn (NYC), was born in Milan (Italy), and gratuated at the New Academy of Fine Arts Milan. In Paris she obtains a post diploma at the Elite University École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and a MFA on Film Aesthetics at the prestigous Sorbonne University.
Appreciated for her photography, video and film projects, Anna Paola Pizzocaro was involved in a lot of projects and productions worldwide such as the famous movies by Roman Polanski and Luc Besson. In New York she was working in the team of LaChapelle. Amoungst her countless art exhibitions it should mentioned, that her photographies were exhibited at Lucca Center of Contemporary Art. In December 2014 her artwork “On the other side of the Mirror” from the series “Unanswered Prayers” entered in the permanent collection of the prestigious Phillips Collection in Washington DC, USA.
Inspired by film, cinema and current cultural contextes Anna Paola Pizzocaro intends to convey a climate message in a subtle way achieving irony in her dreamy compositions.
It is a perception that opens up a conversation about how images move us. Is not meant to provide a union between two different approaches, but to strengthen the perspective of each through its confrontation with the other. Anyway, take care of the “curious travelers”, smart seals, bisons or mermaids in your neighbourhood.
