Peter Thomashow is a psychiatrist and compulsive collector who creates assemblages from his huge stockpile of antique toys and objects. He also believes in invisible forces.
Always intrigued by the unseen - memory, magic, time, space and infinity, Peter’s first collection was magnets - at age seven.
Over half a century later, the invisible is still a recurring theme in Thomashow’s work. A range of recent works is to be shown at the Outsider Art Fair by Marion Harris, an exhibitor since the fair’s inception 23 years ago. The constructions mirror his theories on color and what he considers to be “beyond the visible spectrum”. Magic is his motivator. The art is a vehicle for his personal vision.
The Outsider Art Fair in New York takes place from January 21st – 24th, 2016, at the Metropolitan Pavilion.
