NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Stephanie Pitoy in A Splendid Summer Showcase. The exhibition opens August 24 and runs through September 14, 2019 with an opening reception on Thursday, September 5 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.
About the Artist
Born and raised in Hawaii, Stephanie Pitoy acknowledges that her cultural background will always be present in her artwork in some shape or form. Her artistic journey reveals emotional highs and lows that underscore the passages of her life, from mourning the death of her parents to the exhilaration of starting a new life in New York with her daughter. Her work inspires others to deal with their personal tragedies and grief, noting, “Art has an indescribable way to heal sadness and release negativity. Once released, the soul feels much lighter and the feeling of joy is restored.”
Stephanie Pitoy’s collage-based work are designed to express aspects of the human condition impossible to access by language alone. Love, joy, and melancholy are visually translated into layered, photographically inspired works that take snippets of everyday life and transform them into universal statements of what it means to be alive in the world today. Stephanie Pitoy is a storyteller, inviting people to engage through her art. “My hope is that the esoteric quality of my artwork piques the interest of my viewers and they wonder, What is the story behind the composition?”
