Auction Featuring the Estate of Joseph T. Gorman

Aspire's October online auction of fine art, antiques and decorative arts features the estate of Joseph T. Gorman, who was the former chairman and chief executive officer of TRW Inc. Moxahela, the name of his estate in Gates Mills Ohio, designed by the well known architectural firm of Walker & Weeks, sold recently for $3.65 million.
Well appointed with fine furniture and paintings, Moxahela was elegant, yet comfortable. The warmth of the oyster burled chest between the mica shade torcheres in the entry hall gave a hearty glow, contrasting the sweet subjects in such paintings by Edmund Alder and Eugenio Zampighi. An avid rider and hunter, Mr. Gorman favored a hunt theme throughout most of his mansion. The dining room featured an exceptional silver plated meat trolly by Franco Lafini, with a large naturalistic figure of a fox on the lid. Everwhere you turned, and every room entered, offered a fine suprize, such as KPM plaques he collected over the years, placed in pleasently awkward spaces that begged you to move closer for a more detailed look. Moxahela was, and still is, a fine jewel in Northeast Ohio. We are honored to handle Mr. Gorman's lifetime collection and we warmly invite you to participate in this auction. The catalogue may be viewed at www.aspireauctions.com. Bidding opens 10/24 and lots close over three days; 10/30, 10/31 and 11/1.
