The Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach, Florida is pleased to announce a significant donation of $500,000 from Riccardo and Tatyana Silva. This gift supports the institution’s endowment fund, along with the naming of the Riccardo and Tatyana Silva Gallery on the museum’s first floor. The gift was announced at The Bass Ball on December 16, which raised money for the museum’s ongoing events and education initiatives, and hosted over 200 of Miami’s art patrons and cultural influencers.
“Tatyana and I are thrilled to support The Bass Museum as it enters a new chapter in its development. We are deeply honored by this naming recognition,” said Riccardo Silva on the announcement. “My wife and I have been long-time supporters of the museum and believe in the important role it plays in Miami’s cultural development.”
Riccardo and Tatyana Silva have had a long-standing interest in art and culture. Their personal art collection focuses on Italian Novecento and Radical Italian art, along with a growing collection of modern and contemporary design. Their art collection features some of the most important proponents of Italian modernism. The Silvas are committed philanthropists, with a long and wide-ranging record of supporting a number of causes and institutions in the United States, Europe, and Africa. They share a strong belief in and commitment to giving back to the community.
The Bass is a contemporary art museum focusing on exhibitions of international contemporary art, presenting mid-career and established artists that reflect the spirit and international character of Miami Beach. The Bass recently reopened on Oct. 29, 2017, following a $12 million renovation to transform the visitor experience and to increase programmable space by nearly 50 percent.
“We are so grateful to Tatyana and Riccardo for this pivotal and very generous gift,” said George Lindemann, President of the Board of Directors of The Bass. “They understand the important role art and culture play in our community. Their generous donation, following our recent reopening, will make all the difference as we embark on this exciting new chapter.”
