About Caelum Gallery
Caelum Gallery was established in 1996 by its Co-Directors, Nicholas Bergman and Misuzu Takemoto. It was then located in the Soho art district in New York, at 580 Broadway. In 1998 the gallery moved to the Chelsea art district at the current address 508-526 West 26th Street, which is off of 10th Avenue, on the third floor. This can be easily reached by public transportation by taking any train or bus that stop at 23rd Street and transferring to the frequent cross town bus going West. The Chelsea district has become, according to such publications as ART news and The New York Times, the epicenter of an explosion of activity in the art scene, not only in New York, but in the entire world. In just two years, over two hundred fifty galleries have moved to or have started in Chelsea. There is a great variety of galleries, but in general Chelsea is known for advanced art by younger artists. Caelum gallery is very much an integral part of this scene. The gallery has exhibition by extraordinarily talented young artists from around the world. Of particular note are first rate contemporary artists from Japan, whose painting , sculpture, installation/video and works on paper. It also offers a fine selection of prints by old and modern masters.
