Turner Auctions + Appraisals is pleased to feature Japanese Prints on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at 10:30 am PDT. The sale offers over 95 Japanese woodblock prints and etchings, including single prints, triptychs and groupings. A highlight is a rare shunga print by Eiri. Among the other leading artists in the sale are Hiroshige I & II, Utamaro, Jacoulet, Yoshida, Hasui, Keinin, Hokusai, Koitsu, Kasamatsu, Kuniyoshi and others. Other artworks in the sale include several watercolors and a hand scroll.

Lot 36: Artist: Rekisentei EIRI (fl. 1790-1800). Title: Dutchman & Maruyama Courtesan. Date: 1801. Medium: Woodblock. Condition: Faded, some patches, but no other condition problems of note. Dimensions: 9 3/4 x 14 5/8 inches (approx.). Estimate $1,500-2,500.

Lot 37: Artist: Attrib. Katsushika HOKUSAI (1760-1849). Title: Sparrows & Wisteria. Date: c. 1830. Medium: Woodblock. Condition: Tape to right edge, corners tacked to backing, minor wrinkles. Dimensions: 10 3/8 x 14 7/8 inches (approx.). Estimate $500-700.

Lot 41: Artist: HIROSHIGE (Ando) (1797-1858). Title: Edo meisho hyakkei (100 Famous Views of Edo) Ueno - Moon Pine (early impression). Date: 1857. Medium: Woodblock. Condition: Light fading, edge losses, but no other condition problems to note. Dimensions: 14 3/4 x 10 inches (approx.). Estimate $500-700.

Lot 17: Artist: Kawase HASUI (1883-1957). Title: Rain at Maekawa, Sagami. Date: 1932. Medium: Woodblock, (6 mm Watanabe seal). Condition: Toned, stain (to reverse). Dimensions: 15 x 10 3/8 inches (approx.). Estimate: $200-400.

Lot 51: Artist: Paul Jacoulet (1896-1960). Title: Ebisu, the god of good luck. Date: 1952. Medium: woodblock. Condition: Toned, some staining. Dimensions: 16 1/2 x 12 3/4 inches [sight] framed (approx.) Estimate: $200-300.

Lot 1: Artist: KUNISADA/Toyokuni III (1786-1865). Title: Kosuke capturing giant carp. Date: 1855. Medium: woodblock. Condition: Faded, light toning, some staining. Dimensions: 14 x 9 5/8 inches (Approx). Estimate: $150-200.

Lot 91: Artist: Hiroshi YOSHIDA (1876-1950). Title: Small Town in Chigoku. Date: 1933. Medium: Woodblock, impressed signature. Condition: No condition problems to note. Dimensions: framed 11 x 16 inches (approx.). Estimate $200 - $300.

Lot 21: Artist: Shiro KASAMATSU (1898-1991). Title: Rice Planting (Taue), Rice Harvesting (Toriire). Date: 1953 Medium: Woodblock. Condition: No condition problems to note. Dimensions: 15 3/4 x 10 3/4 inches (approx.). Estimate: $150-200.

Lot 67: Artist: KUNISADA/Toyokuni III (1786-1865). Title: Kabuki drama (6 figures). Date: 1847-52. Medium: Woodblock. Condition: triptych trimmed, some wear. Dimensions: 14 1/8 x 9 1/2 inches [sheet] (approx.). Estimate $200-400.
