"This show brings together LCAD’s celebrated drawing, painting, and sculpture faculty to demonstrate a wide range of approaches, both technically and conceptually, to the time-honored tradition of narrative, representational art," said Hope Railey, chair of the LCAD Fine Art Department. "This exhibition not only highlights the exceptional talent of our acclaimed faculty, but further engages students in the work of some of the most noted representational artists working today."
LCAD Fine Art Faculty exhibition will be comprised of drawings, paintings, and sculptures dedicated to contemporary views of the figure, landscape, interiors and still life. Each of the artists has dedicated their artistic pursuits to furthering the growth of representational art and to the pursuit of what drives them personally as artists.
"'In Search of the Real' brings together artists who are not only engaged in their own personal search, but who are also leading the way in the resurgence of narrative art," Railey said.
LCAD Fine Art is one of the few remaining art programs in the United States devoted to representational art based on classical traditions. All LCAD students learn the core skills to accurately portray still life, figure, portrait, interiors, landscape, and group figures. Fine Art majors continue their education focused on narrative concepts and methods of contemporary storytelling enabling success in an ever-changing art world.
In addition to mastering techniques, the business of art is integrated in the curriculum. Students are introduced to professional practices, marketing, and presentation to be prepared for the challenges of a demanding and competitive art world.
