Richmond Hill, ON – 888 Auctions is excited to feature its very first Chinese numismatic coin collection sale. Highlighting more than 100 coins, coin collectors will be salivating at the prospects of bidding on a private Canadian collection spanning almost 60 years.
Spearheading this inaugural numismatic sale of over 100 coins is Lot 328, Chinese Official Yi You Guangxu Silver Coin. It commands a $4,000-8,000 estimate and will surely set the tone for the rest of the sale. Two other coins that have been garnering great interest can be found at the following:
Lot 284: Chinese Republic Small Coin (High Estimate: $400)
Lot 292: Chinese Guangxu Silver Coin Beiyang Made (High Estimate: $400)
In other news, due to the rapidly growing global thirst for jadeite and precious stones, 888 Auctions JadeLab Gemological Laboratories has been launched to provide professional, objective, and accurate identification service for those in the trade and for the public.
888 Auctions JadeLab is equipped with an in-house laboratory that deploys ‘non-destructive’ methods to definitely determine both the quality and grade classification of jadeite, precious stones, and even the composition of coins that are crucial in analysing and determining its grade. We are currently the only commercial firm in Canada equipped with its own infrared spectrometer capable of identifying treated jadeite (‘B’ jade) and determining whether it has been impregnated with polymer ('B' Grade) or dye ('C' Grade).
Standard gemological testing is usually inconclusive in making a conclusion whether or not a piece is ‘A’ or ‘B’ jade. Furthermore, many jadeite pieces with ‘certificates’ purporting ‘A’ Grade attributes are hindering collectors’ attempts in properly identifying and assessing the value of jadeite. JadeLab will put to rest any confusion when it comes to the value and grade of jadeite in your possession. For further information of our services, please visit us.
For those keenly targeting ‘A’ Grade jadeite, Lot 112, a Chinese Milky Green 'A' Grade Jadeite Bangle may be of great interest. It is expected to surpass its high estimate of $3,000 considering other quality jadeite carvings have sold through 888 Auctions have hammered down at six figures.
