[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - Weschler's holiday auctions of Jewelry, Coins & Watches and American & European Fine Art will be held on Saturday, December 3rd. The exhibition will begin on Saturday, November 26th in Weschler's Washington, D.C. gallery.
The jewelry session will feature stunning pieces ranging from the Antique, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco and Modern eras including an exquisite Art Deco platinum and diamond cocktail bracelet ($6,000-$8,000); an Art Deco 14-karat yellow and white-gold, platinum and diamond mesh evening bag ($4,000-$6,000); a gentleman's 14-karat yellow-gold solitaire diamond ring, with the diamond weighing approximately 1.70 carats ($5,000-$6,000); a 14-karat yellow-gold, ruby and diamond 'bow-knot' brooch ($2,000-$3,000); and a Victorian Tested 14-Karat Yellow-Gold and Garnet 'Serpent' Parure ($3,000-$4,000).
A diverse collection of watches will also be on the auction block, including a Patek Philippe 18-karat rose-gold 30-jewel automatic wristwatch, Swiss, ($4,000-$6,000) and an 18-karat yellow-gold chronograph and chronometer automatic wristwatch by Breitling, Crosswind, Swiss, which is anticipated to bring $7,000-$9,000.
Leading the American & European Fine Art sale is a noteworthy work by British artist Sidney Richard Percy (1821-1886). On the Perthshire Moors, an oil on canvas, is a tranquil countryside landscape anticipated to realize $10,000-$15,000.
Other European highlights include a quality oil in the circle of the 18th century Scottish artist Allan Ramsay. Titled A Boy Dressed in Blue, the painting is estimated to bring $5,000-$7,000. A dramatic oil titled Fontana dei Lauri ($8,000-$12,000) by Italian artist Emma Ciardi (1879-1933) and a portrait of Commander Henry Rolando by the renowned American portrait artist Thomas Sully (British 1783-1872) ($5,000-$7,000) will also be auctioned.
A selection of sporting art, consigned from a Virginia collection, will also be offered and features a 19th century British School oil of a Family Sporting Portrait of a Young Boy Mounted on Black Horse with Three Young Girls ($5,000-$7,000); a 19th Century British School oil on canvas of a Quail Hunter with Hounds in a Landscape ($3,000-$5,000); and an oil Portrait of 'Fieldmarshall' with Jockey Up Mr. Crawley, Owner Mr. Loder by American artist John Chester Matthews (1850-1900) is estimated to fetch $3,000-$5,000.
American highlights include an adorable oil on canvas titled English Setters ($5,000-$7,000) by American/British animalier artist Maud Earl (1864-1943); a watercolor on paper by Paul Sample (1896-1974) of a View of the Coast with Beached Sailboats which is one of two works to be offered and is estimated to bring $5,000-$7,000; a woodcut in color by Gustave Baumann (American/German 1881-1971) of A Quiet Morning ($3,000-$5,000) and a serigraph & lithograph by Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997), Bicentennial Print from America: The Third Century Portfolio, is anticipated to realize $5,000-$7,000. Also on the auction block is a collection Derrière Le Miroirs that carry estimates ranging from $500-$1,200.
