The North Shore Festival of Art is back, but with a new name and an expanded variety of artisans! Now called North Shore Art Market, this show (celebrating its 29th glorious year!) takes place at the incredibly popular Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center, a luxury outdoor shopping destination in the heart of Skokie, Illinois. Free and open to the public, the North Shore Art Market is on Saturday and Sunday, July 8th and 9th from 10 am to 5 pm each day. Benefiting the Skokie Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and produced in cooperation with Westfield Old Orchard and Amdur Productions, the festival attracts close to 100,000 visitors!
This esteemed art festival showcases the work of the country's finest artists in a variety of mediums including painting, photography, ceramics, glass, jewelry, sculpture, furniture, and more. 100-juried artists from across the country will be offering one-of-a-kind pieces at this free, outdoor exhibition in the most beautiful and welcoming of surroundings complete with lush landscaping, fountains and comfortable sitting areas. Guests to the show will also find homemade soaps, lotions, and handmade food items (including art created from chocolate!), making the North Shore Art Market truly exceptional and unique.
Artist demonstrations, booth chats, interactive art projects, activities for kids, and live music make the North Shore Art Market a wonderful experience for the entire family. For those who might work up an appetite while shopping the show, there’s plenty to eat and drink throughout the mall including Buffalo Wild Wings, Epic Burger, California Pizza Kitchen, Uncle Julio’s, Maggiano’s, Shake Shack and Blaze Pizza.
New this year, young art festival attendees are invited to visit the youth art area to participate in “Draw for the Troops.” Kids of all ages are welcome to color a special picture for the brave men and women serving our country. At the end of the show, the drawings will be sent by Amdur Productions to the troops stationed in the U.S. and abroad. Kids will also enjoy art fest bingo, spin art, coloring and a graffiti wall.
Amdur Productions is pleased to announce that Autism Speaks is the charity chosen for the North Shore Art Market’s Green Ribbon Project. Participating artists will be placing a green ribbon on a piece of art in their booth. If the piece is sold during the show, then the artist will donate 10% of the proceeds to Autism Speaks.
Autism Speaks is an organization dedicated to promoting solutions, increasing acceptance and advancing research for the needs of individuals with autism and families. For more information about Autism Speaks, visit their website at https://www.autismspeaks.org/.
