Ann Korologos Gallery opening reception for "Andy Taylor: Fields and Hedgerows"

The Ann Korologos Gallery is honored to present the exhibition Andy Taylor - Fields and Hedgerows, opening with an artist’s reception Friday, March 14, from 5pm to 7pm. Refreshments will be served. Taylor’s work is popular for his interpretations of familiar local landscapes and vegetation, rendered in clear, saturated colors.
A 40-year Carbondale resident, Andy Taylor paints what he knows best – the vistas and details of the land in western Colorado and eastern Utah. The works in Fields and Hedgerows illustrate the repeating visual theme of edges. “In this region, we have fields broken by irrigation ditches, by cottonwoods, by mountains,” notes Taylor. “Everything leads to an edge, and sometimes we get multiple edges.”
The fields and edges have been used to beautiful compositional effect in the 25 paintings included in the exhibition. All of the works were created in the past 12 months, from locations as close as Taylor’s own Carbondale garden and the Colorado Rocky Mountain School environs to the wilder reaches of the Western Rocky Mountain region. Taylor begins his artistic process with location sketches using ink and colored pencil. The sketches themselves are unique finished works, 25 of which will be shown in in the exhibition.
Andy Taylor - Fields and Hedgerows will be on view at the Ann Korologos Gallery through April 14. The exhibition may also be viewed online at Andy Taylor, Fields & Hedgerows. For more information, please contact the gallery at (970) 927.9668 or art@korologosgallery.com
