Paolo Canciani, Apollo Riding a Harley Davidson, Acrilic on Canvas, 28''x 20''

Hilde Gustava, The Great Journey of Me with Pi, Acrilic on Canvas, 19.5''x 19.5''

This spring Agora Gallery is pleased to present two exhibitions highlighting new and groundbreaking voices in the fields of painting and photography. Solitary Spaces celebrates the individual dreamer forging ahead, with a collection of widely dissimilar pieces that represent each artist’s imaginary viewpoint. There are surreal portraits, impossible landscapes, and entirely abstract compositions. The eye picks out what is real and what is not – and must come to terms with the fact that it is harder to distinguish more often than not. Illumination: An Exhibition of Fine Art Photography features the latest in digital photography, with sweeping and unfamiliar landscapes, probing psychological portraits, and still lifes that border on postmodern non-representation. The exhibition will explore how artists borrow from the language of fine art and from the newest in technological capabilities to inform their photography in today’s art world, where more is possible than ever before.

Both exhibitions open on April 26th, 2016 and run through May 17th, 2016. The opening reception for both will be held Thursday, April 28th from 6-8 pm. Entrance is free.
