A lifelong fascination with visual arts, architecture and design shapes the work of Liliana Mascio. The artist, who is born in Venezuela and living in Slovenia, has created a new series of mixed media collages. The recent oeuvre forms a decided and intensely concentrated body of work. Never before Liliana Mascio focused so closely on the medium of crystalline collage, which seems almost like a liberation, opening up the potential to give the issue of form and background, space, areas and lines a new level of concentrated dynamism.

Mascio’s work is demonstrating that while the art market continues to gain momentum, there are still opportunities for collectors! Feeling tension, but also harmony and inner freedom during the creative process, Mascio explains the aesthetic concept of her series:
”My works are created in an intiutive way with my primary media wood, using paper, Swarovski crystalls and colours. Trancendental energy, fluid and fragmented elements and craft skills are characterizing my work continiously. My work is inspired by architecture, fashion, photography and the social media. I want to create objects to make you feel happy and fresh.”

The elements series emphasizes the cycle of life, often represented by a process of decomposition and reconstruction. Creating a new reality made of fragments, she recreates a puzzle by putting chaos into order and therefore exposing the ephemeral nature of human existence. Close to her aesthetic approach, there is a precision in her brand new series of collages which mirrors the deep essence of her work. With her current abstract series, Liliana Mascio is creating mixed media works which are distinctive for their crystalline structures, geometrical, repetitive forms and vibrant colors.

They record on both micro- and macroscopic dimensions with a new language that welcomes your contemplation. Liliana Mascio’s signature is clearly legible in these works, which are exciting and meditative at the same time, fascinatingly calculated, creating unique dreamscapes, which reflect the artist’s personal dynamism. The working process includes a direct and spontaneous gesture that, in turn, is based on insight gained in previous work and which gives these artworks their inescapable explosiveness.

Every aspect of the composition is important, the choice of the material, the look of the surface. Liliana Mascio’s technical aspects of the mixed media compositions are directed toward a sensory meaning that becomes a metaphor of existence in time and space and beauty – Mascio’s magic maps.
