NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Mariela Soldano in A Splendid Summer Showcase. The exhibition opens August 24 and runs through September 14, 2019 with an opening reception on Thursday, September 5 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

Argentinian artist Mariela Soldano paints vivid images that delve into the subconscious mind. Soldano works in acrylics, using a predominantly earthy palette featuring rich green, brown, and golden hues. Saldano paints with brushwork that is expressive and unbridled. She states that her artistic process entails attempting to channel her subconscious mind through her artwork. When she paints she strives to bypass rational thinking and to work instinctively.

Soldano’s work as a cultural community leader—where she endeavors to reveal the hidden needs of a community—has influenced the way she approaches her artwork. Soldano says that as an artist she aims to uncover the repressed and forgotten aspects of the human psyche. Soldano’s paintings are elemental, with a palpable feeling of movement and growth. Rooted in nature, her pieces feature organic forms and patterns. With the addition of text, Soldano adds both thematic and visual interest to her pieces. Words and letters float through her compositions, in stream of consciousness. The overall effect of Saldano’s work is of vitality and unrestrained expression.
